Rata Social Services NPC is one of the few organisations accredited to handle adoptions in South Africa. Only approved social workers may handle adoption consultations and applications.
The Children’s Act, 38 of 2005, mainly regulates adoptions in South Africa.

ADOPTION:
* counselling and examination in relation to the child in question to determine whether the child is indeed adoptable and selection of applicants who apply for adoption and whether they are suitable to adopt a child.
* an assessment of a child by an adoption social worker in terms of the Children’s Act, Act 38/2005.
* an assessment of a prospective adoptive parent(s) by an adoption social worker through the collection of information regarding the prospective adoption as set out in the Children’s Act, Act 38/2005.
* the compilation of an adoption report as prescribed by the Children’s Act, Act 38/2005.

AANNEMING:
-berading en ondersoek t.o.v die betrokke kind om vas te stel of die kind inderdaad aanneembaar is en keuring van applikante wie aansoek doen om aanneming en of hulle geskik is om ‘n kind aan te neem.
-‘n assessering van ‘n kind deur ‘n aannemings maatskaplike werker in terme van die Kinderwet.
-‘n assessering van ‘n voornemende aanneemouer deur ‘n aannemings maatskaplike werker deur die versameling van inligting t.o.v die voornemende aanneming soos uiteengesit in die Kinderwet, Wet 38/2005.
-Die samestelling van ‘n aannemings verslag soos voorgeskryf deur die Kinderwet, Wet 38/2005.
